NEW Guidelines and Deadlines for License Applications

Please review the Applicant Handbook below in addition to the guidelines below.

The NCMFTLB will review license applications on the 5th and 20th of each month.  The following guidelines will be implemented in these reviews:

  • Only complete applications will be considered for reviews.  This means all components of your application in Certemy are GREEN and complete and your official transcript has been received by the Board. NO exceptions will be made to this rule.  If your license application is missing any components you will have to wait for the next review.

  • If your education is COAMFTE accredited your application is eligible for this review.  If your education is accredited by another organization or your degree is in a related field, your application will have a secondary review by a committee of the Board to ensure the education meets NC licensure standards and you will be notified of their review decision as soon as possible.  The Committee will also be reviewing related degree license applications bi-monthly.

  • If you are applying via reciprocity (continuous licensure in another US state for 5 or more years) you will be eligible for review granted we have received official verification of any other MFT licenses you hold in other states.  These verifications should show you hold a licensure in good standing and provide information on any disciplinary actions you have on your record.
